The Nash family can be traced back to the Ashford, Kent area in the late 1700s where they were agricultural labourers spending much of their time working the Romney Marshes near the village of Lympne. By the 1870s, the family had moved west to the Preston, Kent area south of Hollingbourne before moving to Stockbury in the 1890s and eventually on to Detling near Maidstone in the 1940s.
